NAIOP has selected Riddell Kurczaba, a design consulting firm located in Calgary and Edmonton, as one of two winners of the 2013 Distribution/Fulfillment Centre Design of the Future. Al-Arqam Amer, NAIOP Edmonton’s co-founder and Managing Director of Riddell Kurczaba’s Edmonton office, spearheaded the entry. This competition invites architectural and design firms to submit plans with utilization trends, new sustainability elements and ground breaking building technologies for a distribution/fulfillment centre to be opened in the year 2020.
Riddell Kurczaba’s entry is an innovative concept called “The Swarm” – a mixed-use fulfillment network located at major transportation arteries. Both winning concepts will be presented in San Diego, California on October 9, 2013 during the Development ’13: The Annual Meeting for Commercial Real Estate.
